P2P
File sharing, as defined by the article P2p file sharing, is "sharing and transmitting of computer data in a network or internet with various access level." P2P file sharing is "a peer to peer file sharing which allows individuals to access media files using software program that searches and located computers that have the file that is wanted." In other words, P2P file sharing is a more specific version of file sharing that uses programs to find files. Normal file sharing is usually done through things such as USBs or through websites such as Dropbox. According to the article, the most popular P2P network is Gnutella. Gnutella allows users to search and download files easily. The main problem with P2P file sharing in today's world is digital piracy. P2P websites allow people to easily illegally pirate movies, TV shows, music, and videos. As mentioned in the article Digital Pirates Winning Battle with Studios, "The Dark Knight" was pirated over seven million times by the end of the year of its release date. Companies need to figure out how to discourage people from using P2P websites to easily get their content for free or they will risk out on losing a lot of revenue.
