Blog: Social networking sites

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Reddit are four social media websites that are extremely popular and use by people all over the world. All four sites provide users the option to create an account and discuss media that is uploaded to the website. Facebook is a website that allows users to post status updates, upload photos and videos, play games, and message other users. Twitter, similar to Facebook, also allows users to post status updates, post photos and videos, and message other users. However, Twitter has the limitation that users can only post status updates, or tweets up to 280 characters. Both Facebook and Twitter utilize a timeline that users can scroll through to see the latest news, videos, photos, and other people's status updates or tweets. YouTube allows users to mainly post videos and discuss them with other viewers. YouTube has comment sections for all their videos so that people can leave their thoughts or criticisms on videos. Reddit allows users to view photos and videos and is more of a discussion forum compared to other websites for the content that is uploaded. Users on Reddit, similar to YouTube, also leave comments on posts that others can reply to. More recently, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube allow users to "go live" or livestream what is going on around them in real time that users can view and comment on. Personally, I use YouTube and Reddit the most for free time media consumption because you can find a lot of content on these two websites that can keep you entertained or informed for hours. Facebook and Twitter are more for keeping up with friends or public figures that I use for a few minutes a day.
