Blog about Twitter

This was my first time engaging in a Twitter discussion. The experience was very different to me. It was very easy to see what all my classmates wrote by clicking on the hashtag #CIS3810NET1. After clicking the hashtag, I was able to read what everyone wrote and read a few interesting articles as well. The character limitation definitely had an impact on my thoughts and responses to people because I could not just mindlessly write whatever came to my head; I had to think a little bit about putting my thoughts out in a concise manner. Also, being able to retweet and like other people's tweets allows for a level of communication that cannot be reached in other places. You can get a nice feeling if someone read what you wrote and liked it enough to retweet it or leave a like on it.

A BlackBoard discussion, on the other hand, is not limited by a character count and is limited to just comments within people of your class. It is also more customizable in the way you want to write your posts because you can change things like font and color and you have the option to embed links.

An in-class discussion is completely different from the previous two manners of communication. Face-to-face discussions are very different from online discussions. In-class discussions are instant and people do not have as much time to clearly convey their thoughts if that is an issue for them. Furthermore, it can also allow for great conversations as people can go back and forth on ideas and are not limited by the time aspect that is prevalent in online discussions.
